IPL AND LASER HAIR REMOVAL

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It is a form of light therapy that uses strong pulses or flashes of light to treat a range of skin concerns, and for hair removal. When used for hair removal, IPL works by targeting the pigmentation in the hair follicle. The light causes a quick burst of heat and damages the cells that cause the hair to grow. Regular IPL treatments have been proven to show a significant reduction in hair growth. IPL hair removal treatment can be performed anywhere on the body, providing the hair contains pigment (melanin). IPL will not work on grey, white or extremely blonde hair. However, if your hair is brown or black, IPL will work very effectively.

Following the IPL or Laser hair removal treatment, patients
are given after-care advice to follow, including keeping the treated areas out of direct sunlight for a period of time, and applying a post-laser/IPL body gel that cools, calms and hydrates the skin. Karen will advise a specific time period between treatments that will ensure optimal results for hair reduction.
